| Things to consider while your child is taking dance classes, performing or competing in competitions: |
- When watching a performance, I will applaud in a positive manner for my child and for all of the other children in the routine.
- I will make a commitment to get my child timely to dance class, rehearsals and performances.
- I will encourage my child to dance for enjoyment.
- I will stress that having fun and feeling good about oneself is more important than winning.
- I will show the same love and affection to my child if my child does not score as high in a competition as he/she would have liked.
- I will speak privately to the instructor if any problem arises.
- I will see that my child fulfills his/her commitment to the dance team for the full duration of the season.
- I will encourage my child's involvement in dance.
- I will recognize and praise good effort even when things are not going so well.
- I will remember that WNPAC’s goal for my child are for him/her to have fun, to improve dance skills, to learn social skills, to be physically fit and to share these experiences with friends.
- I will not interfere with my child's class.
- I will not make derogatory comments to or about other dancers, teachers etc.
- I will not place winning ahead of having fun.
- I will not compare my child's abilities with other children. All children have different abilities and maturation rates.
- I WILL NOT FORGET THAT IT'S MY CHILD'S DANCE CLASS/COMPETITION AND NOT MINE!!
